Choosing the voice model

L
Written by LX

Every storyboard uses one voice model for its narration. You pick it once for the whole storyboard, and it's required before you can generate the final video.

What is the voice model?

It's the voice that narrates your video. The storyboard has a single shared voice model — the same voice is used across all shots — and it shows up as a @-pill you can reference inside shot prompts.

Where do I choose it?

Two places, and they stay in sync:

  • The Voice model selector in the editor's top bar (on mobile, in the storyboard info area).

  • The voice pill on a shot card — if no voice is set yet, the pill acts as a picker you can click to choose one.

Both open the same voice-model selection dialog and update the storyboard's one voice model.

How do I pick or change it?

Click the Voice model selector to open the picker, then choose a model. There's a toggle to show only your personal models, and an option to create a new voice model from inside the picker if you don't have one yet. Picking a model applies it to the whole storyboard immediately.

How do I clear the selected voice?

The selector trigger has an X clear button. Clearing it leaves the storyboard without a voice model — which means you won't be able to generate until you pick another one. When nothing is selected, the trigger reads "No selection".

Why do I need a voice model to generate?

Generating the final video requires narration, so a voice model is mandatory. If you press Generate without one, you'll see "Please select a voice model." Pick a voice in the top-bar selector (or via a shot's voice pill) and try again.

Why can't I change the voice?

If the storyboard is locked after generating a video, the voice model is view-only — the same lock that freezes shots and Elements. You'll see "You can't edit a storyboard after generating videos. Regenerate a storyboard to make changes." Regenerate to get an editable copy. You also can't change it while the storyboard is still generating ("Please wait for the storyboard to be ready.").

On mobile

The voice model is chosen the same way — from the storyboard info area or a shot's voice pill — and opens the same picker (as a mobile dialog) with the personal-models toggle and create-new-model option. On a long storyboard, a sticky voice bar appears at the top once the info card scrolls out of view, with a "Top" button to scroll back up.
