Clone Video is a standalone Video tool (listed right under Edit video in the tool switch and the mobile Choose a tool sheet). Instead of describing a scene from scratch, you start from an existing video — one of your generations, a community content, or an upload — and regenerate it while choosing exactly what to preserve: the outfit, the background, the style, the motion, and/or the product. It works with a selected portrait model or in No Model mode.

What is Clone Video for?

Use Clone Video when you already have a reference video whose look you want to reproduce. Pick the video, tick what should stay the same, optionally describe anything extra to keep, choose a quality, and hit Generate. With a portrait model selected, it can put that character into the shot; in No Model mode it generates without presenting a selected character.

How do I clone a video?

  1. In the workstation, pick Clone Video from the Video tools (right below Edit video). You can also start from any completed video using its Clone Video action in the generation-card button column, full-screen preview, content-detail shortcuts, or More actions menu. These actions validate the video's minimum duration before opening model selection, then enter the selected model's Clone Video workstation with that video loaded as the Base video automatically.

  2. Pick a Base video on the left: Select content opens the content picker (your generations — followed by curated inspiration — and community content; you'll be asked to sign in first if you aren't), or Click to upload video to use your own file. On the Community tab, Clone Video is selected by default; switch to All to browse every community video. Clone Video uses a 4–15 second segment on Best, or a 4–30 second segment on Ultra and UltraS.

  3. On the right, set your Clone options — the panel hint says "Choose what to preserve in the cloned video."

  4. Optionally use the always-visible Additional details field to describe anything else to keep unchanged.

  5. Use the rightmost Add reference character image card to add a character reference. Open it, then choose Select content or Upload image. It says "Overrides model image" before a reference is selected. Once selected, the expanded picker says "Used instead of your model image for this generation." Closing it compacts the selection to a thumbnail marked "Selected · click to edit." The same interface is shown with a portrait model and in No Model mode; the input remains required in No Model mode.

  6. Check Duration at the bottom. Use the scissors button to open Trim and choose a segment within the selected quality's range when needed.

  7. Pick a Resolution and Quality at the bottom, then press Generate.

On narrower desktop windows, the layout keeps each card readable and exposes a horizontal scrollbar. The Reference character image card begins as a compact rightmost column and expands to its full picker only after you open it. With the Elements panel open, the panels run left to right as Base video, Elements, Clone options, and the Reference character image entry. Clicking + Element scrolls the row so the Elements and Clone options panels are immediately visible together.

What video lengths can I use?

Clone Video requires at least 4 seconds. Best accepts a 4–15 second selected segment; Ultra and UltraS accept 4–30 seconds.

  • A video shorter than 4 seconds is not selected or uploaded. When you start from an existing video's Clone Video action, this check happens before model selection opens. The app says: "The video must be at least 4 s."

  • A source longer than the selected quality's maximum is accepted with its first supported segment selected automatically: 15 seconds on Best, 30 seconds on Ultra and UltraS. The app shows "Videos can be up to 15 seconds. Trim your video ✂️" or "Videos can be up to 30 seconds. Trim your video ✂️" to match the current quality.

  • An existing selected segment over 15 seconds cannot switch to Best until it is shortened. The app says: "Trim the video to 15 seconds or less before switching quality."

  • If the composition also has more than 7 Elements, the duration warning appears before the Element-removal confirmation. No Elements are removed until the segment is within Best's limit and the downgrade is confirmed.

  • Duration-validation messages remain visible for 5 seconds so there is enough time to read the minimum-duration or automatic-trim notice.

  • The Duration readout shows the currently selected segment. Select the scissors button on desktop, or Trim on mobile, to open the shared video trimmer; its maximum follows the selected quality (15 seconds for Best, 30 seconds for Ultra and UltraS).

What are the Clone options?

Five checkboxes control which details of the base video the result preserves:

  • Outfit preserves the clothing style, colors, and details.

  • Background preserves the background and surrounding scene.

  • Style preserves the overall visual style and tone.

  • Motion preserves the camera and subject movement.

  • Product preserves the featured product's look and details.

The Select all row above them toggles all five at once and shows a counter (e.g. "5/5"). Everything starts selected — untick what you want the generation to change. The options use a three-column grid on desktop and a two-column grid on mobile.

The helper below the options follows the same selection rule as Clone Image:

  • None selected: "Outfit, background, style, motion, and product may change."

  • Some selected: "Keep the base video’s {selected options}. {Unselected options} may change."

  • All selected: "Keep the base video’s outfit, background, style, motion, and product."

What is Additional details?

Below the options, the Additional details input is expanded by default and remains visible without a separate open/close button. The hint reads "Describe anything else you want to keep unchanged." When one or more options are not selected, the placeholder combines examples for those changeable attributes in option order — for example, with nothing selected it reads "e.g., Black outfit, beach scene, cinematic style, smooth tracking motion, red handbag...". With every option selected it reads "e.g., Keep the red hat and sunglasses visible...". A character counter appears in the bottom-right corner once you're within 2000 characters of the 20000-character limit.

What does the Template button do?

Template is the pill button at the right end of the Additional details editor's bottom row, on the same line as the + Element button. It opens a picker of videos made with Clone Video — public ones under Community, your own creations under Generation. The picker always opens on the Community tab (templates are inspiration-first, even when you have generations of your own); switch to Generation to pick from yours. Every card shows the video's cover and auto-plays its muted video preview (one card at a time in feed order on mobile, while hovered on desktop), with a preview of its prompt near the bottom edge (trimmed with an ellipsis when it's long) and an info icon in the card's top-right corner. Clicking the info icon opens a preview dialog: the video autoplays on a loop beside the full prompt — its text with its style and element pills — and a Use template button. The player has no native controls; the sound button in its bottom-right corner toggles sound (muted by default — the on/off choice is shared with the app's other video players).

Clicking a card — or Use template in the dialog — applies that video as a template, and this completely replaces what you currently have in the composer: the base video (the template's already-trimmed source clip), every Clone options selection, the Additional details text with its element chips, the filled element slots, Quality, and resolution are all overwritten with the template's stored generation settings. A template's Reference image is deliberately not applied, and any Reference character image currently in the composer is cleared; choose or upload the reference you want after applying the template. A "Content settings applied." toast confirms it and the picker closes — so save anything you want to keep before picking a template.

A card that is still generating shows "Generating. Can't select right now." and can't be picked. If a template's details fail to load, a "Failed to load content detail…" error appears and nothing in your composer changes.

Can I reference Elements?

Yes. The selected quality allows up to 7 Elements on Best, 15 on Ultra, and 25 on UltraS. On desktop, the Additional details input carries a + Element button in its bottom-left corner (hidden while the panel is open). Clicking it opens an Elements panel between the Base video card and the Clone options; the panel's header ✕ closes it. Best shows its 7 available rows plus one locked row for Ultra; Ultra shows its 15 available rows plus one locked row for UltraS. Selecting a locked row switches to the next quality and reveals its full allowance. Each available empty Add element row opens the Element dialog to pick one of your Elements, a community Element, or create a new one. Switching to a quality with fewer Element slots first opens Some elements will be removed; continuing keeps the supported slots and removes overflow Elements and their Additional details mentions. Mobile uses the same limits and upgrade/confirmation behavior in its Element field.

The Additional details input is a rich prompt editor: added elements appear as inline "@" chips in your text. A newly saved element appends its chip automatically; clicking a filled panel row — or one of the element pills listed above the editor (a capped, scrollable row) — inserts that element's chip at your caret, and typing @ in the editor opens the element mention list. Each chip carries its own ✕; deleting an element from the panel asks for confirmation first and also clears its chips from the text. The character counter counts text only — chips are free. The panel reopens automatically whenever a reuse or remix restores elements — even if you had closed it — and the elements are sent alongside the clone request.

On mobile, the Additional details input carries the same Element flow through the common mobile Element field: when the pool is empty and the field is closed, tapping the 24px-high Element shortcut under the input opens the Element picker directly; saving an Element then opens the field right below the input, while cancelling leaves it closed. After an Element exists, that closed-state shortcut only reopens the field. Its grey close bar is labelled Elements with the current quality's count, its compact chips are 22px high with an ✕ (confirmed delete), and the compact chevron opens the full slot list — the same rows, details, and delete confirm as desktop. Tapping a chip or a full slot row inserts that Element's "@" chip into your text at the caret, and typing @ in the editor opens the Element drawer. Reuse/Remix opens the field whenever it restores Elements — even if you had closed it beforehand; editing or deleting an Element preserves whether you left the field open or closed.

Why is the Generate button greyed out?

With a selected portrait model, Generate stays disabled until that model is ready. The always-visible Reference character image entry can be left empty, and a supplied image is included in the clone request; once you choose an optional upload or selected content, Generate stays disabled until the upload or selected-media preview is ready, or the reference is removed. No Model mode has no portrait-model training task to wait for, but its reference image input is required. In both modes a base video must be ready — a selected content, or an upload that has actually finished uploading. If you press Generate in an incomplete state you'll see one of these messages:

  • "Please upload a video or select a content to clone."

  • "The video is not ready yet. Please try again after the video is uploaded."

  • "The reference image isn't ready yet. Please wait for the upload to finish, retry it, or remove it."

  • "Please select or upload a reference image." — required only in No Model mode.

  • "Please choose at least one clone option or describe what to keep." — you need at least one option ticked, a non-empty Additional details note (an inserted element chip counts), or at least one element added.

What resolution and quality options can I choose?

Clone Video separates these settings in the bottom bar:

  • Resolution — Best supports 480P, 720P, and FHD; Ultra and UltraS keep 720P and FHD.

  • Quality — Best, Ultra, or UltraS. Free users start on Best 480P; paid users keep the UltraS 720P default.

On desktop, the bottom bar and each quality tooltip show the server-driven rate in credits per second for the selected quality and resolution, while Generate shows the total charge for the currently selected segment. On mobile, the Video length / Trim control shows the same per-second rate, and the info icon beside each quality shows its standard video-tier description. Best shows Powered by Seedance 2.0; Ultra and UltraS show Powered by Seedance 2.5. There are no Quantity or Aspect ratio controls in this mode — each generation returns one video that follows the base video's framing.

What shows on the content detail page?

A cloned video's detail page is headed Clone Video and lists the inputs used: the Base video player (tap to view full screen), the Reference image when one was supplied, the Clone options — a bordered Select all card with the counter when everything was matched, or just the individual pink chips when only some were — separate Quality and Resolution chips, an Element card with a thumbnail for each referenced element (its info button opens the element's details) when elements were used, and an Additional details card with your note when one was used. On mobile, the Base video and Reference image sit side by side at matching half-width preview sizes. The remaining blocks share one responsive flow rather than fixed columns: the Clone options card is a flexible cell that fills the space beside the previews and only drops onto its own row when the screen leaves it less than its minimum width, and the Quality and Resolution chips are ordinary cells that wrap through the same flow wherever they fit. Records without recorded Reference image, Element, or Clone options data simply omit the corresponding block.

How do Reuse and Remix work here?

  • Reuse (on your generation's card in the workstation feed) reloads the already-trimmed base clip returned with the generation, plus any saved Reference image, clone options, Additional details note, elements, quality, and resolution, back into Clone Video so you can tweak and regenerate. When a Reference image is restored, its picker opens automatically. Older No Model records without saved Reference image data require you to select that required input again. The trim is already baked into that base clip, so no separate trim range needs to be restored.

  • Remix (on the card or the detail page) opens a video content picker: choose one of your videos — or a community one — as the new base video. The picked content's base model becomes the generation model, and the source clone's options, note, elements, quality, and resolution carry over. Its Reference image deliberately does not carry over; choose or upload a new Reference character image yourself when you want one. This keeps Remix focused on creating a meaningful variation instead of reproducing nearly the same result.

Clone results land in the generation feed like any other video, and the video feeds on Home, History, and the workstation include a Clone Video filter.

On mobile

The layout stacks: the Base video card on top, the switch link to Clone Image right below it, then the Clone options panel. Failed uploads show "Upload failed" with a Retry button. Duration and Trim sit beside the separate Resolution and Quality pickers in the bottom bar, and the collapsed bar previews your base video thumbnail next to a combined quality/resolution label such as Best SD, Best HD, Best FHD, Ultra HD, Ultra FHD, UltraS HD, or UltraS FHD. Tapping a quality's info icon shows its standard video-tier explanation and the matching Seedance footer: 2.0 for Best, 2.5 for Ultra and UltraS. Elements use the common mobile element field under Additional details (see "Can I reference Elements?"). The Template pill sits at the right end of the Additional details editor's bottom row here too; its picker opens as a full-screen page where tapping a card's info icon opens a preview sized to its content (up to near-full screen) — the playing video above, the full prompt and Use template button below — and tapping the card applies the template. The collapsed Reference character image row is appended after those controls. It opens the reference picker with Select; after you select or upload an image, the row shows its thumbnail and "Selected · tap to edit." The expanded picker says "Used instead of your model image for this generation." This is optional with a selected portrait model and required in No Model mode. Everything else matches desktop.
