Edit everything is the most open-ended Edit Video tool. Instead of changing one specific thing, you write a free-form instruction describing how the whole scene should change — and you can drop in elements (characters, products, styles, backgrounds) by reference so the edit knows exactly what to use.
What does Edit everything do?
It re-renders your source video according to a written instruction. On desktop, the description card is headed Video edit description, and you type what you want changed. You can also attach up to a few Elements and reference them inline in your instruction, so the edit pulls in the right character, product, style, or background.
How do I run an Edit everything edit?
Open Edit Video and pick Edit everything from the tool switcher.
Add the video with Select content or Upload video.
Write your instruction in the prompt box.
Optionally add elements and reference them in the text (see below).
Adjust quality and resolution in the bottom bar if needed.
Click Generate — the cost is shown next to the button.
How do I write the instruction?
There's a rich text box in Video edit description. It holds up to 4,000 characters, with a live counter showing your usage. A non-empty instruction is required before you can generate. As you type, you can insert element references inline so they become chips in the text.
What are elements and how do I add them?
Elements are reusable building blocks — a character, product, style, or background — that you reference in your instruction. On desktop, click Add elements to open the Elements panel; its pink header shows how many you've used out of the selected quality's allowance: up to 15 Elements on Ultra and 25 on UltraS. On mobile, use Element under the prompt. In either layout, choose Add element to create or pick one, and each added Element becomes a chip you can drop into your text at the cursor. Ultra shows its 15 available slots plus one locked slot for UltraS; selecting the locked slot switches to UltraS and reveals all 25. If you switch back to Ultra with Elements in slots 16-25, a Some elements will be removed confirmation appears before the overflow Elements and their prompt mentions are removed. Switching to another Edit Video tool keeps the Edit everything references while they are hidden. If returning to Edit everything would otherwise resolve to Ultra while slots 16-25 are still filled, the quality returns to UltraS instead so no saved references are removed without confirmation. As a final safety check, generation is rejected before any request is sent if restored state ever contains more Elements than the displayed quality supports; it never silently submits a more expensive quality than the one shown in the workstation.
The element categories are Character, Product, Style, Background, and Others.
What is the "More ideas" / idea button?
If prompt suggestions are enabled for your account, an idea-generation button sits under the prompt box. It proposes ready-made instruction options based on your video; tap one to load it into the box, then edit it. When suggestions exist, a panel expands to show them, and you can collapse it again.
Why is Generate disabled?
Generate stays off until you've added a video and typed a non-empty instruction. Elements are optional — you can generate with just text. Best supports 480P, 720P, and FHD for selected slices between 4 and 15 seconds; Ultra and UltraS accept between 4 and 30 seconds. The hint below the source-video controls updates between "Use a video between 4 and 15 s." and "Use a video between 4 and 30 s." with the selected quality. A clip under 4 seconds shows "The video must be at least 4 s." On Best, if the clip exceeds 15 seconds, use the scissors button in the bottom bar to shorten it. Best is powered by Seedance 2.0, while Ultra and UltraS are powered by Seedance 2.5; hover a quality on desktop, or tap its info icon on mobile, to see the model note.
On mobile
The instruction and Elements now share one editor card. When the pool is empty and the field is closed, tap the 24px-high Element shortcut to open the Element picker directly; saving an Element then opens the common mobile Element field under the prompt, while cancelling leaves it closed. After an Element exists, that closed-state shortcut only reopens the field. Its close bar is grey and labelled Elements, and its compact chips remain 22px high. The compact chevron matches Text to Video and opens the full slot list over the lower part of the editor card. Reuse/Remix opens the field when it restores Elements into an empty editor. After that, editing or deleting an Element preserves whether you left the field open or closed, and deleting the last Element does not hide the empty slots you can use for a replacement. Element creation opens as a full-screen flow, and inserting an Element drops a chip at your cursor — the same Ultra 15 / UltraS 25 quality limits apply.
