Edit Image is the workstation mode for changing an existing image instead of generating one from scratch. It groups several tools — Chat to edit, Face swap, Edit clothing, Upscale, and Remove background — behind a single row of tabs so you can pick the kind of edit you want and feed it a source image.
What can I do in Edit Image?
Edit Image gives you five tools, each on its own tab:
Chat to edit — change an image just by describing what you want different.
Face swap — put your selected model's face onto another photo.
Edit clothing — swap or change the clothing on a person in a photo (virtual try-on).
Upscale — increase an image's resolution and sharpness.
Remove background — cut the background out of an image.
Pick the right tool first, then provide a source image and any extra input that tool needs.
Should I edit an image or generate a new one?
Reach for Edit Image when you're already happy with most of an image — roughly 90% there — and only want to change one specific thing (a small detail, the background, the outfit, or the face). If you'd essentially need to rework the whole image, you'll usually get a better result by generating again with a revised prompt instead of editing.
How do I switch between the editing tools?
Use the tab bar at the top of the Edit Image panel. Tap Chat to edit, Face swap, Edit clothing, Upscale, or Remove background to switch. The active tab is highlighted, and switching tabs changes the controls below to match that tool.
How do I choose the image I want to edit?
Every tool starts from a source image, and you have two ways to add one:
Select content — opens a picker so you can choose an image you already have. You can browse your own media (the Personal tab) or browse community/example images (the Inspiration tab).
Upload image — upload a file from your device.
For the best results, APOB recommends starting from an image you generated in APOB. Exactly where the source image goes depends on the tool: Chat to edit and Face swap call it the Base image; Upscale, Remove background, and Edit clothing call it the Reference image (and Edit clothing adds a clothing choice on top).
Why don't I see the Edit clothing tab?
Edit clothing (virtual try-on) is controlled by a feature flag, so it can be turned on or off. It is currently enabled, so you'll normally see all five tabs. If it's ever switched off for your account or region, the Edit clothing tab simply won't appear in the tab bar — the other four tools are unaffected.
Do I need to be signed in to add a source image?
To use Select content and pick from your own or the community's media you need to be signed in — if you're not, you'll be prompted to sign in first. Uploading a file from your device works the same way, with the usual sign-in needed to actually generate.
What happens if an upload fails?
If a file can't be uploaded you'll see "Upload failed" (and on Chat to edit, "Failed to upload the image. Please try again later."). Just tap Retry to try the same file again, or remove it and pick a different one.
Why is the Generate button greyed out?
Generate stays disabled until your selected model has finished loading and the current tool has everything it needs:
Chat to edit — a base image and a description.
Face swap — a base image to swap onto.
Upscale / Remove background — a reference image.
Edit clothing — a reference image and a clothing selection.
Once those are satisfied, Generate becomes active. Only Chat to edit lets you choose a quality (Ultra 4K or Ultra S 4K); Face swap, Edit clothing, Upscale, and Remove background have no quality option and run at a fixed quality. The credit cost is server-driven and shown next to Generate; it depends on the tool and your plan.
On mobile
The tools and tabs are the same on mobile — the tab bar sits at the top and you scroll it sideways to reach every tool. Source images open in a full-screen picker or bottom sheet, and an upload shows a percentage while it's in progress with a delete button to clear it.
